Charges of terrible tortures of "separatists" by SBU confirmed
The human rights activist Arkady Bushchenko said in an interview with the TV channel 112 that Ukraine could lose international support due to the possible tortures of prisoners detained on suspicion of separatism.
The Politnavigator reported yesterday that, for the second time in its history, the UN mission, which verifies countries on the matter of tortures of prisoners, demonstratively left Ukraine, accusing the authorities of countering their activities. The problem was about possible tortures of prisoners accused of separatism.
According to Yuri Tandit, an adviser of the head of the SBU, the mission was not allowed in some prisons containing prisoners of the SBU, for 'legitimate reasons'. It was arranged by the SBU, despite the fact that the country had signed the Convention on combating torture, according to which it is obliged to allow UN representatives to any place of detention.
