In Europe geopolitical situation dramatically changing

European nations want to preserve much of their sovereignty because everyone is sick with the Brussels bureaucracy.

Such an opinion was expressed in the "Russian newspaper" by Alexander Rahr, a German political scientist and the scientific director of the German-Russian Forum, who said that the EU found itself facing a serious crisis due to the decision of the British to leave the European Union.

'At the moment, we can say for sure that the creation of the United States of Europe is unlikely to succeed. Most of the European nations want to preserve much of their sovereignty. Everyone is tired of the Brussels bureaucracy. So, here there is a conflict between the higher elites of old Europe, who want a Political Union, and of Europe's population that already hates the Brussels center,' said the expert.

'In this situation, the majority would be satisfied with the economic union of Europe which preceded the European Union up to 1990. We see that Europe is plagued by contradictions and uncertainties. It suggests that the geopolitical situation in Europe is changing dramatically. European countries are facing new challenges and problems that will take years to solve. So there will not be any simple answer to all questions about the fate of Europe,' summed up Rahr.
