The Army of the LPR returned under its control the Lugansk airport which had been held by the MFU for 3 months.

According to the UN data, the number of refugees from Ukraine exceeded 1 million people. In Kiev at the buildng of the Supreme Rada there was held a meeting of the lustration supporters. The Minister of Economics of Ukraine was dismissed. In Kharkov nationalists attacked a camp of refugees from the hostilities zone. The police of Vinitsa was informed of the building of the Vinitsa region administration having been mined.

In the DPR, in the area of Yasinovataya, there was destroyed one of units of the battalion Shakhtyorsk and were liberated several townships of the Amvrosievka region (Novoamvrosievskoye, Semenovskoye, Mnogopolye, Kobzary, Zelenoye, Grabskoye) as well as suburbs of Donetsk Elenovka and Telmanovo in Donetsk region. On the South-East the DPR army came up to Mariupol and reported about captured Polish mercenaries. The outskirts of Donetsk were shelled with cluster bombs from Uragans. About 100 soldiers of the National Guard came out of the Lugansk airport by a “green corridor”. The airport was already completely destroyed. In Gorlovka humanitarian canteens were opened and the town started baking bread.

The press service of the President of Ukraine Poroshenko announced a ceasefire in Donbass. Mortuaries of Zaporozhye were clogged with bodies of the Ukrainian military killed in the ATO. The Prime Minister Yatsenyuk asked the NATO for the status of a “special partner N1” for Ukraine and proposed to build a wall along the border with Russia. In Sumy region 60 km moat was dug along the border with Russia. In Kiev, at the building of the Supreme Rada there was held another meeting demanding the lustration of the authorities. Parents of Kiev schoolchildren started raising funds for the ATO. In Nikolaev the special police unit Griffon dispersed a meeting of soldiers’ mothers. The battalion Aydar mined the TES in Schastye. The Ukrainian authorities refused to pay for broadcasting Euronews in the country.

Donetsk and Gorlovka were shelled from the artillery of the Ukrainian army. The Army of Novorossia resumed the shelling of the Donetsk airport and forced the Ukrainian military to leave Elenovka, Konstantinovka and Telmanovo. Bezler’s unit advanced on Dzerzhinsk while commanders of the MFU units were leaving Kramatorsk. Another group of the Ukrainian military got surrounded, thereby there was created the Mariupol pocket. In Mariupol more than 500 bomb shelters were prepared. The LPR army took almost the entire south of the Lugansk region under its control. More than 20 localities of the Republic came under the LPR authority. The Donetsk railway started to work in a wartime mode. The DPR started the negotiations with the RF about gas supply for Donbass separately from Ukraine. The DPR and LPR authorities set the size of benefits and pensions that would be paid in September: the retirement pension of 1.8 thousand UAH, the monthly allowance for child care until the age of one and a half years of 860 UAH and the benefit at childbirth of 10.32 thousand UAH.

Kiev, the DPR and the LPR signed the protocol on the ceasefire. The Mariupol Town Council announced the recruitment of volunteers to defend the town. Residents of Zaporozhye were ordered to dig trenches for the Ukrainian army. The State Border Service of Ukraine changed the regulations of entering the territory of the Crimea for citizens of the country. The permission to enter was to be granted only in the presence of identity documents confirming the citizenship of Ukraine.

Half an hour before the beginning of the ceasefire the Ukrainian army shelled Lugansk from Uragans. The DPR authorities declared that the regime of ceasefire would hold until the first shot from Kiev’s side. The Army of Novorossia stood ready to liberate Mariupol. A million and a half people were left without water in Donbass as three filter stations couldn’t be repaired due to the hostilities. The mine Red Partizan resumed its work after 50 days of work stoppage. The Sky Hundred monument was demolished in the Odessa region.

The President of Ukraine Petr Poroshenko declared that the Ukrainian troops wouldn’t leave Donbass. The leader of the Right Sector Yarosh declared that his organisation was preparing to continue the fight.

Amvrosievka was shelled twice and a ballistic missile Tochka-U landed in Khartsysk. A column of the punitive battalion Aydar was destroyed near the township Schastye. The flag of Novorossia was raised in Novoazovsk. The Lugansk City Council announced the beginning of restoring the infrastructure in terms of the armistice.

The Kiev authorities announced that the territories of the DPR and LPR would be made a ‘special zone’ within Ukraine, which would be isolated and surrounded with ‘engineering structures’. The President of Ukraine Petr Poroshenko declared that Ukraine had lost 65% of its armoured vehicles and dismissed the Head of the General intelligence. Ukraine used the lull in Donbass to transfer large-scale reinforcements to Donetsk: in Kramatorsk aircrafts with military equipment and manpower landed on the military airfield every half an hour. The Ukrainian army concentrated forces to storm Gorlovka. The CNSD announced a possibility of arming residents of Mariupol where the Ukrainian military were erecting another defence ring around the town. The bus traffic from Mariupol to Novoazovsk and Rostov was disrupted. Having announced that the commandment hadn’t informed it of the armistice the battalion Azov resumed the hostilities. The Right Sector made a decision to take part in the parliamentary elections in Ukraine. In Kiev a meeting of soldiers’ mothers ended up in a fight. When the women demanding to return their sons from the ATO zone tried to set up a tent, they were attacked by activists of Maidan. The Kiev authorities asked the residents to sponsor burials of the military killed in the ATO.

The DPR and LPR leaders made a joint statement saying that at the first use of weapons by the punitive forces of Ukraine they reserved the right to resume the military operation to liberate the occupied territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The Army of Novorossia reported that the Ukrainian military had violated the ceasefire seven times. The Army of Novorossia liberated Telmanovo. In the area of the locality Kamenka, on the right bank of the river Seversky Donets, there was intercepted a column of recruits following to Slavyansk. 75 soldiers were sent home and 9 of them joined the militia. Since the beginning of the hostilities in Donbass there had been destroyed almost 600 enterprises. The DPR government decided to create the Republican bank. In the central streets of Kharkov Ukrainian flags were taken away and replaced with flags of Novorossia; a recruitment office was also fired at again in the city. In the area of the locality Rozovka of the Kharkov region a partizan sabotage group destroyed a column of the 26th separated artillery brigade. All MANPADS and ammunition were seized by the attackers. In Zaporozhye migrants from Lugansk and local ultras had a fight because of an obscene song about Putin.

The Ukrainian authorities decided to divide the Lugansk region into two parts. The IAM of Ukraine opened about 4 thousand criminal cases against the militia of Novorossia. The Ukrainian military mined objects of the infrastructure in Mariupol. A curfew and a ban on assembly of citizens were introduced in the town. The entry to the town during night was permitted only to persons with the Mariupol registration and the exit from the town was totally prohibited at that time of day. From Kharkov to Donbass there were transferred tanks. The territorial battalion Cherkassy refused to go to the front line in full force. International human rights activists confirmed the crimes of the battalion Aydar. Poland, Hungary and Slovakia refused to supply Ukraine with reverse gas due to Russia’s decision to decrease volumes of gas supplies.

Hostilities resumed in the area of Volnovakha, the Kievsky district of Donetsk was shelled and in Enakievo the metallurgy plant was damaged. The Army of Novorossia liberated the locality Patriotichnoye. The DPR representatives and the Ukrainian military exchanged war prisoners. In Ilovaysk the DPR Ministry of Transport, together with sappers of the Donetsk militia, started the restoration of the major transport hub. In Kharkov residents started to restore damaged Lenin monuments and take away Ukrainian symbols; they also got several political prisoners liberated, including Topaz.

The Supreme Rada exempted the punitives from liability for war crimes. Ukraine and the USA started joint military exercises. Reserves of the army of Ukraine were being moved to Donbass. Near Donetsk the Ukrainian military shelled the OSCE observers. In Zaporozhye the recruits refused to go to Donbass. The National Bank of Ukraine admitted that the inflation had reached 90%. In Sumy the price of water increased in 5-10 times. In Kiev there was held a meeting due to the closure of the newspaper Vesti. In Nikolaev there was erected the first checkpoint without the city.

The second humanitarian convoy arrived in Donbass. Donetsk was shelled again, there was a battle in the airport, in Makeevka the Soviet district was shelled, in Yasinovataya a battle started and in the area of Debaltsevo an attack group of the MFU was stopped. On the spot of defeat of the 51st brigade of the Ukrainian punitives there was found a large number of packages of narcotic substance. Among exchanged war prisoners from the Ukrainian side there turned out to be a beaten priest bearing traces of torture. The LPR authorities decided to build transmission lines to Russia and receive the electricity from there. In Kharkov partizans blew up a train carrying fuel for the punitives. In Odessa an anti-war meeting was cancelled due to the Trade Unions House allegedly having been mined. On the Kulikovo Pole there happened a fight between policemen and those who came to the meeting.

The Supreme Rada adopted two laws proposed by Poroshenko: ‘On a special order of self-governing selected areas of Donbass’ and ‘On preventing prosecution and punishment of participants of events on the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions’. In the explanation to the law on amnesty it was stated that it applied to those participating in the fighting in the East (except those suspected and charged with serious crimes and the crash of MH-17) who would give up arms and release hostages within a month after the law’s entry into force. The law on a special status provided a special procedure of governing for 3 years, promotion of the use of the Russian language, restoration of industrial objects and infrastructure, trans-border cooperation with Russia in the mentioned regions and creation of the people’s police out of local residents. In Kiev there was held a meeting of nationalistic activists demanding not to sign the laws adopted by the Rada. The FAM of Ukraine announced an intention to adjust the Ukrainian army to the standards of the NATO armed forces. In the Western Ukraine about 10,000 people avoided the mobilisation. In Kiev there was held another meeting, that of relatives of those fighting in Donbass, and a picket of the Supreme Rada, demanding the lustration of the authorities again. Yatsenyuk stated that daily damage caused by the war in Donbass reached $6 million. Grain was being taken away from Mariupol; there also appeared new checkpoints and barricades of the Ukrainian army. In Zaporozhye refugees from Donbass got arrested more and more often. In Svatovo the Ukrainian punitives desecrated a memorial of the Great Patriotic War. A female sabotage group composed of the 39th hundred of Maidan appeared in the LPR. In Lvov a founder of a Ukrainian social network was bitten for wearing a T-shirt with a trident.

Having violated the ceasefire the MFU started shelling Bayrachky, after which they received a fitting rebuff from the Cossacks National Guard of the Great Don Army. Near the town Yasinovataya the MFU defence was broken through. In the town Schastye several shells fell on the territory of the Lugansk TES. More than a million and a half of people in Severodonetsk, Lisichansk, Rubezhnoye, Novoaydar and Starobelsk were left without electricity and miners were trapped under ground. The LPR authorities announced their intention to introduce the rouble into circulation. In Kherson there was burnt an office of Self-Defence. In Bulgaria there was held a mass meeting against the punitive operation in Donbass.

Obama refused Ukraine a special status of an ally outside NATO. Poroshenko appointed Moskal the governor of Lugansk. Moskal transferred the capital of the Lugansk region to Severodonetsk. The battalion Azov was expanded into an operative regiment. The IAM of Ukraine created the battalion of Holy Mary. At the Pricarpathye there was formed a children battalion ‘Death to Russians’. Poroshenko signed a decree on a ban to export military goods to Russia. Ukraine reduced the electricity export by 50%. Ukrainian newborns hadn’t been vaccinated against tuberculosis for half a year as Kiev had prohibited to use Russian vaccin. Ukraine refused to take part in Eurovision due to lack of funds. In the Kiev City Council deputies had a fight because of singing the anthem. In Kharkov local supporters of Maidan beat pensioners who had gathered for an anti-war meeting. The Kherson People’s Self-Defence proposed “separatists” to surrender. The Right Sector continued “trash” lustration in Ternopol. Residents of Ottawa met Poroshenko with a meeting of protest.

The third humanitarian convoy from Russia arrived in Donbass. The Ukrainian military tried to break through the defence of the DPR army from the township Pesky. In Donetsk there were shootings in the area of the mine Trudovskaya. The Army of Novorossia pushed the enemy from Makeevka and Yasinovataya. In the DPR Gorlovka was de-blocked. Near Donetsk there was closed the Gorlovka-Makeevka-Enakievo pocket containing 2,500 of Ukrainian military and a lot of armoured vehicles and heavy weapons. The Odessa Berkut refused in full force to participate voluntarily in the ATO. In Cherkassy some unknown people painted the town wall into colours of the flag of Russia. In Mariupol two tanks were hijacked from Ukrainian soldiers. The Congress of Hungarians and Podcarpathian Russins addressed to the EU, Hungary and Ukraine, asking them to recognise the legitimacy of the referendum of 1991 on giving Zacarpathye the status of a federal district within Ukraine.

Kiev reinforced the border with Russia in the South-East with APCs. In Kharkov during the “March of Peace” there was pulled down the Lenin monument on the Freedom square. A runaway cable knocked away an eye of one of the nationalists. A pensioner who tried to defend the monument was several beaten. In Kharkov there were opened 6 criminal cases against officials accused of disrupting the mobilisation of vehicles for the ATO. In Zacarpathye clients of the PrivatBank demanded that Kolomoysky return them their investments.

The DPR unilaterally and temporarily suspended the exchange of war prisoners because the Ukrainian side had passed captured civilians for the military. In Gorlovka there took place the first meeting of the military of Ukraine, Russia, the DPR and LPR. Donetsk was shelled again, the Ukrainian military tried to break through from the airport. There was liberated Nikishino. The DPR army started a cleansing operation on the territory of the Donetsk airport. The LPR representatives asked the RF for building materials as humanitarian aid.

The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal investigation into the genocide of Russian-speaking population of Donbass. The General Prosecutor Office of Ukraine opened an investigation against the Investigative Committee of the RF into unlawful interference with law enforcement authorities and the Military Forces of Ukraine. The EU postponed the application of the agreement on free trade zone with Ukraine until the end of 2015. The funds allocated for the construction of the Wall along the border with Russia turned out to have been stolen. Four relatives of Poroshenko were taking part in the parliamentary elections as members of his block. The Internal Affairs Minister Avakov announced that the new police of Ukraine would be created on the base of the battalions Aydar and Donbass. In Odessa there was made a decision to arm supporters of Euromaidan. The casualties of the Ukrainian army in Donbass exceeded 21,000 people. In Kharkov a man was crucified on the fence of a church. In Kakhovka in the Kherson region people who had refused to say fascist slogans as greetings were fired.

Due to the shelling from the Ukrainian side a record number of consumers in Donetsk were cut off of gas supply; 6 civilians were killed. A sabotage group consisting of ex-prisoners from the Cherkassky region blew up two substations in Donetsk. In the Donetsk airport there were going tank battles on the runway; the Ukrainians admitted the loss of 6 tanks and a ICV. The soldiers of Novorossia managed to take another building of the airport from the Ukrainian military. Another tomb with victims of the Ukrainian punitives was found near Donetsk. In Lugansk the punitives destroyed a Sunday school. In Schastye the LPR army dealt a mighty blow to the positions of the punitives. Soldiers of the Army of Novorossia managed to seize a launching system Smerch. In Slavyansk no one expressed a desire to serve in the Ukrainian police. In Kharkov several clashes between ultras and defenders of the monument took place near the pedestal of the fallen Lenin monument. In Kherson three supporters of Maidan got their throats cut. The ex-deputy of the Head of the Odessa police Dmitry Fuchedzhy gave an interview about the events of 2 May to the First Channel.
