Turchinov: Ukraine running out of ammunition

Ukraine has to create its own production base of ammunition of all calibers, as the country cannot yet count on the West's assistance. It was announced by Aleksandr Turchinov, the National Security and Defense Council Secretary, at a meeting on the organisation of the production of ammunition. 'The military-technical cooperation with our strategic partners to obtain lethal weapons is artificially blocked, and we again have to rely only on ourselves,’ he said. According to Turchinov, during the first two years of the war in Donbass, the Ukrainian armed forces used mostly reserves "inherited" from the Soviet Army. ‘However, these reserves are not limitless, much of them has...

Over 80 French MPs preparing lifting of sanctions against Russia

A group of French MPs has filed an appeal to the country's President Francois Hollande with the requirement to lift the sanctions against Russia. The authors of the appeal are mostly from the centre-right opposition to Sarkozy’s Republican party. They have entered in the Parliament a resolution which calls on Hollande to lift sanctions against Russia. The movement was created on the initiative of Thierry Mariani. MPs emphasise the high cost of Russian counter-sanctions on French farmers and the loss of French arms sales to Russia. The appeal says that the sanctions had turned out to be ‘ineffective’ to change the situation in Ukraine, and that France should cooperate with Russia to...

5 million citizens of Ukraine lost their jobs during reign of Maidan

For two years of the "European course" Ukraine has lost five million jobs and, over the past year, managed  to reduce exports to the EU by more than 30%. It was stated by an ex-MP and the leader of the Union of Left Forces Vasily Volga. 'The thoughtless implementation of European initiatives in Ukraine has led to the fact that, only in January this year, the amount of our exports to Europe has fallen by 31%, compared to January of last year. This is an external course, due to which we have lost our traditional markets, that has led to the fact that the country has experienced a crazy deindustrialisation. For two years we have got five million unemployed,' said Volga. According to him, Ukraine will be able to abandon the IMF loans and restore the economics only in the event of a return to the old markets and recovery of the industry. 'A change in the foreign policy course, the return of the traditional markets of Ukraine, the launch of our factories and enterprises, the...

ATO Volunteer: If Donbass is restored by separatists or Regionals, we lost the war

Donbass will be ruled not by those who are fighting for it, but by those who will restore it after the victory. It was written by the famous Kharkov ATO volunteer Roman Donik on his Facebook page. 'Let it be cynical but understandable. The one who will bring prosperity, food and recovery to Donbass,  will rule it after the victory. Not the one who is fighting. Not the one who will bring peace. The one who will bring the bread. As for spectacles, Donbass is fed up with them for years to come. The one who will bring food, water, slates, glass, bricks, will be the savior and protector. Donbass will accept only what the savior brings. We are obliged to bring there, together with food, money and slates, the Ukrainian world. Not that of the Opposition Block, not "For the Russian World". The Ukrainian one,' he wrote. The volunteer emphasised that thousands of the best sons of Ukraine had already died for the Ukrainian world, therefore, it is not the separatists and Regionals who...

Donbass already lives by Russian rather than Ukrainian realities

Donbass has now become an informal Russian region and is closer to the Russian Federation than to Ukraine. It was stated by the Russian political analyst Alexei Anpilogov. 'Politically and civilisationally Donbass is now much closer to Russia than to the rest of Ukraine. It is the picture of holiday that we saw on our TV screens on May 9th. Donbass lives by Russian realities, economically it is already largely involved in the Russian realities. Certainly, Donetsk and Lugansk now live poorer than even the poorest regions of the Russian Federation. That is, prices are already Russian ones, but salaries are still far from those in Russia,'  said...

Ukrainian oligarchs and multinationals ready for mortal combat for remaining tidbits of Ukraine

The forthcoming large-scale privatisation in Ukraine is fraught with even greater political destabilisation in the country. This forecast was announced, during a press conference in Kiev, by an expert of the Kiev Center for Political and Conflict Studies Denis Kiryuhin, who recalled that in Ukraine a large-scale process of state property sales, started by Yatsenyuk, is coming out to the final stretch. 'And here there is an explosive situation, because, on the one hand, in terms of revenue sources getting limited, the competition between the major financial and industrial groups for the remaining sources of income increases many-folds. On the other hand, we see the application of large...
