Ukrainian oligarchs and multinationals ready for mortal combat for remaining tidbits of Ukraine

The forthcoming large-scale privatisation in Ukraine is fraught with even greater political destabilisation in the country.

This forecast was announced, during a press conference in Kiev, by an expert of the Kiev Center for Political and Conflict Studies Denis Kiryuhin, who recalled that in Ukraine a large-scale process of state property sales, started by Yatsenyuk, is coming out to the final stretch.

'And here there is an explosive situation, because, on the one hand, in terms of revenue sources getting limited, the competition between the major financial and industrial groups for the remaining sources of income increases many-folds. On the other hand, we see the application of large multinational corporations to participate in the privatisation process in such delicious spheres as energy, transport, the Odessa Port-side Plant, etc,' said the political scientist.

'The conflict within Ukrainian industrial groups and major multinationals already is a source of destabilisation in the country. However, in terms of a large-scale privatisation, it can be a powerful factor undermining the political situation in Ukraine. And Groisman will have to solve complex problems of how to meet the interests of all without allowing, at the same time, a major conflict, even though the pressure on Groisman will be applied fromboth inside and outside. And yet, we still do not know the privatisation strategy of the government, and how it intends to address this issue,' added the expert.
